Angela Quezada Padron

Angela Quezada Padron is a Latina artist who spent her childhood days doodling on garage walls of her New Jersey home and summers visiting family in the Dominican Republic. She uses a wide range of media and techniques to produce her artwork, including batik, pastels, watercolor, digital applications, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, and collage. In addition to making fine art, Angela writes and illustrates children's books and material for educational publishers. She writes fiction and nonfiction picture books and middle grade novels, and she creates colorful, textured illustrations with diverse characters and heartwarming scenes. Her most influential artists are Picasso, Dali, Matisse, van Gogh, Monet, Magritte, and geniuses of the Renaissance era.

Angela has earned six college degrees including a B.A. in Art, MFA in Illustration, and an AA in Music. She has illustrated two children’s books, “The Hero in You” with Alberto Whitman & Co. and “My Body Belongs to Me” with Free Spirit Publishing, as well as a short story "Firefighter Mom" in Cricket Magazine. Angela was also chosen as a semi-finalist for the SCBWI Tomie dePaola Award in 2014 and first place in the Florida SCBWI Portfolio Showcase in 2023. Her debut author/illustrator picture book bio, AS THE SEAS RISE, about environmental scientist and climate justice activist Nicole Hernandez Hammer, released with Atheneum Books in June, 2024. She has three additional books under contract that will be released by 2026.

Angela has been a proud member of SCBWI since 2004. She is also a member of Arts Bonita. When she’s not working, you can find Angela walking along Florida beaches with her family collecting shells, singing Broadway musical soundtracks, sewing, watching or playing sports, admiring the wonder of nature and engineering marvels, and gushing over anything Star Wars.
