Boris Deriy
Boris has always been fascinated by the objectivity and preciseness
of science and the subjectivity and beauty of art. Years ago, he attended a
school of art in Russia and at the same time earned a PhD in Biophysics.
He spent his summer vacations at the greatest Russian Museums where he
had a chance to view and study the works of world greatest artists.
Boris and his family moved to the US in the nineties. For a number of
years he had worked as a scientist at the Argonne National Laboratory in
Chicago but the love for painting never left him.
In previous years, he had been coming to Naples on a seasonal basis
and was fascinated by the beauty of southern nature, the cozy elegance of
Naples downtown, and the intensity of the local art life. Naturally, he was
attracted to it and tried to get involved. His paintings were displayed at the
duo exhibition in Naples in 2014.
Finally, Boris and his wife recently relocated from Chicago to Naples
to become happy Floridians.
Although his art is often inspired by social and political events in the
world, it's human relationships between each other and with the Nature
attract him the most.
*Boris's paintings are currently displayed as part of the Artist of the Month at the Meeting Hall of the
Government Building of Collier County (July and August, 2023).
*He is also invited to exhibit his paintings in the Court House of Collier County
for September, 2023
*His work "Learning to Play" was selected by St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in
Wilmington, DE for exhibition at their violin concert in 2019.
*His paintings were displayed at the duo exhibition in Naples in 2014.
