Francine Gerson
I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and started my art training at the Cleveland Museum of
Art and the Cleveland Institute of Art. I received my Bachelor of Science in Education
and a Masters in Special Education from Kent State University.
Shortly after the birth of my second child my family moved to St. John’s Newfoundland
where we lived for five years. This was followed by three years in Ancaster, Ontario. We
moved back to Hudson, Ohio in 1978. I taught special education in a rural school in Ohio
for the next 27 years. I started stained glass in Canada and continued training in Ohio.
When it was time to retire my husband and I chose Florida as both my children were
Gators and settled in Florida after graduating. Our grandchildren were born in Florida.
I took a class is fused glass at the Art Center of Bonita Springs and fell in love with the
medium. I continued to study there and took additional classes at the Cape Coral Arts
Studio. Now I teach classes and work from my studio.
I have shown my work from central to southwest Florida and I am pleased that some of
this art was recognized for awards by the judges. I have had work commissioned for
awards including one to Clyde Butcher presented by the League for Environmental
Educators of Florida and others presented by the Academy of Geriatric Medicine.
I am showing my work at The Art Council of SW Florida Co-Op Gallery in Coconut Point
and at club shows.
