Gail Martin
My love of art started with oils in Palo Alto, Ca. In the 1960’s I painted with many of the instructors in the Bay Area. We had live models, abstract and limited pallets were popular. I exhibited and sold in San Francisco during those early years.
Art was put to rest for many years while raising a family in New Hampshire. The New England history inspired me to start my own Antique Business. “The Other Drummer” was my passion for 36 years. My love of Watercolor began when we moved to Naples, Florida. Watercolor has a life all it’s own! I prefer bright and strong colors with lots of pigment. My love of nature and the magical intrigue of Italy are predominant in my paintings. Italy has inspired my landscapes. The small streets, the imperfect buildings, colors which are only seen after years of service, all the charm and quietness have a great influence in my paintings. Oil painting has again captured my interest. While the watercolors dry, I paint with my oil brushes. Always enjoying the process. I was fortunate to paint & work for 3 years at the Promenade with other artists from the Bonita Art League. I am currently showing at the Big Arts” in Sanibel & “Coco Gallery” at Coconut Point in Estero, Fl. “Technical Achievement Award” "Cape Cod Clematis” |
