JoAnne Crowson
JoAnne, who paints under the name Joanie C, is a self-taught abstract impressionistic artist who utilizes the world around her for inspiration.   She is inspired by the mountains and plains of the Midwest, where she grew up, as well as the ocean and wildlife of Florida where she and her husband now reside.  Joanie C utilizes vivid colors to convey emotions and take the viewer on a mystical journey.
She started her artistic journey with fluid art, an artform which mixes paint with various mediums to create paints that will flow like honey and are then manipulated on the canvas surface through the use of compressed air, palette knives, gravity, or brushes.  These methods produce one-of-a-kind paintings full of movement and not easily replicated.  Fluid art is still a component in many of her works, but enhancements and details are added to transform the painting.  Most of her work is created utilizing acrylic paint, alcohol ink, resin, or mixed media.
In addition to canvas art, Joanie C loves to create food safe resin serving pieces, from hand crafted cake platters to trays and lazy Susan’s as well as coasters, and glassware.
