Maria DeAngelo
Maria DeAngelo was born May 19, 1961, in Pensacola Florida. Maria’s father was in the Navy and
stationed in Spain where he met her mother. They married in 1959 and had three children. Maria is the
middle child with an older brother born in Spain and a younger sister born in Italy. Her father left the
Navy when she was about 6 years old, and they settled in Illinois.
Maria attended to college at Illinois State University where she studied education and graduated in 1983
with a BS in education. She lived most of her adult life in Naperville, Illinois where she raised her four
children, one daughter and three sons.
While raising her 4 children Maria decided she did not want to be a teacher and went back to school in
1996 to become an Interior Designer. In 2001 Maria started her Interior design Business “Designing
Interiors Inc.” Maria’s business was a 21-year success when she decided to retire in October of 2022 and
move to Naples Florida as a full-time resident with her now husband Tom DeAngelo.
Maria has always had a love for art. She would often say “when I retire, I want to start painting” Fast
forward during the Pandemic in 2020 she decided to start painting with all the extra time she was given.
Learning to paint through many online Tutorials, and a lot of experimenting, oil painting has become her
passion.
Maria’s painting signature is Mimi, which is the name her only Grandchild (Kaitlyn) gave her. Now
officially retired, Maria paints just about every day. Her paintings are mainly influenced by her Florida
surroundings, beach life, flowers, and animals of Florida.
