Phyllis Rieser
I have a Ph.D. in psychology, am NYS licensed as a clinical psychologist and had a private practice in Manhattan for over 30 years. We moved to Cape Coral from Manhattan in 2004. At that time, I retired from my psychology practice and came back to my first love- art.
I started art school at age 8, went to Music & Art HS in NY and started college as an art major. I decided I couldn’t afford to work as an artist so changed my major to my second interest, psychology. However, throughout my life I continued with art and crafts study and practice, taking courses in sculpture, silk painting, stained glass, pottery and working at it whenever I could. I collect art glass and about 4 years ago began to make jewelry with dichroic pieces I bought on the internet. I started studying glass fusing soon after moving here. When I discovered that there was a class where I could make art glass pieces, I was elated. I have a talent for design and color and am grateful to have an ability to come up with creative projects. I keep experimenting with new ideas, hoping to translate my sculptural ideas into fused glass pieces. I love glass. It makes my mouth water. I’ve shown my work at: Cape Coral Arts Studio, have had solo shows at the Cape Coral Library and the Cultural Park Theater Big Arts on Sanibel, the Bonita Springs Art League, Florida West Arts, The Sweet Art Gallery in Naples, Julia’s on Matlacha Coco Gallery |
