Stan Dzedzy
Dragons, imaginative creatures, and whimsical figures have come to characterize Stan’s clay sculptures and pottery. After earning his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, Stan taught pottery and ceramic sculpture at Lower Moreland High School in Huntington Valley, PA for 35 years, where he developed a highly successful high school ceramic curriculum.
Using a variety of stoneware and porcelain clays, Stan uses both wheel thrown and hand sculpted forms to create his individually hand made pieces. Metallic oxides and a variety of self-formulated glazes, as well as the natural clay colors, which are fired in a cone 8 oxidation atmosphere, are used to compliment and enhance the finished work. While in Pennsylvania Stan was a longtime member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, where he served as Vice President and as Standards Chairman; the Bucks County PA Guild of Craftsmen; and was a charter member of the Montgomery County PA Guild of Craftsmen. In 2006 Stan and his wife Jeanne moved to Lehigh Acres, FL and is presently a member of the Southwest Florida Craft Guild, the Naples Art Association, and the Art League of Bonita Springs. His work can be found in collections in Japan, Europe, and throughout the United States. |
