COCO Art Gallery Seeks Volunteer Art Jurors

Share Your Experience. Support Local Artists. Help Maintain Artistic Excellence.

COCO Art Gallery seeks two experienced art professionals to join our volunteer jury team at our Naples and Estero gallery locations.

As a nonprofit cooperative gallery operated by the Art Council of Southwest Florida, COCO is committed to showcasing quality original artwork created by talented artists throughout Southwest Florida. Our jurors play an important role in maintaining our galleries' artistic standards, ensuring the work we exhibit reflects the quality and professionalism our visitors and collectors have come to expect.

We are seeking professional artists, art educators, and experienced gallery professionals who have a broad understanding of artistic styles, techniques, and mediums, along with the ability to evaluate artwork fairly and objectively.

What Does a COCO Juror Do?

Our jurors review both two-dimensional and three-dimensional artwork submitted for exhibition in our galleries. Artwork spans a wide variety of mediums, including acrylic and oil painting, pastels, drawing, photography, ceramics, woodcarving, stonework, jewelry, and other fine art disciplines.

Jurors evaluate each piece based on artistic merit, technical skill, craftsmanship, and overall presentation. This includes attention to framing, finishing, and the professional standards required for gallery exhibition.
The jury process is an important part of what makes COCO special. Our goal is not only to maintain high standards but also to provide a fair and consistent evaluation process for the artists who entrust us with their work.

Who Are We Looking For?

Ideal candidates will have:
-
Professional experience as an artist, art educator, or gallery professional.
-
A strong understanding of artistic techniques, composition, craftsmanship, and presentation across a variety of mediums.
-
While a broad knowledge of fine art is important, we particularly welcome applicants with specialized experience in three-dimensional art, including ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, and fine craft.
-
The ability to evaluate artwork objectively and make thoughtful, independent decisions.
-
A commitment to maintaining high standards while treating fellow artists with fairness and respect.
-
Full-time residency in Southwest Florida.

Time Commitment

We ask that our jurors be available to participate in receiving-day jury sessions at both gallery locations:
-
Estero Gallery: First Monday of each month.
-
Naples Gallery: Second Monday of each month.
-
Session Length: Typically 1–2 hours per location.
-
Online Jury Reviews: Participation in a monthly online review of applications from artists seeking admission to our galleries.
