Ages 11–15 | Saturday, October 10 | 4:00–6:00 PM COCO Art Gallery Naples • Coastland Center Discover Your Creative Voice Through Self-Portraiture Interested in portraiture but feeling intimidated by drawing? This engaging mixed-media workshop gives teens the opportunity to explore self-expression, portraiture, color, layering, and visual effects—without needing advanced drawing skills. Instructor Micah Goguen will guide students through a creative process using Grafix Duralar Film, Marabu Sketch Markers, GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics, and GOLDEN Metallic Paints. Students may use a photograph of themselves as the starting point. The image will be altered and prepared by Micah before the workshop, allowing students to focus on the creative process rather than worrying about drawing a perfect likeness. Prefer to work without a photo? That's completely okay! Students may choose to create an abstract or expressive artwork using the same techniques. Create • Layer • Express Students will learn how to: • Explore self-portraiture without the pressure of traditional drawing • Use transparency and layering to build an image • Experiment with Marabu Sketch Markers • Add GOLDEN Fluid Acrylics and Metallic Paints • Create expressive color and visual effects • Explore identity, personality, emotion, and individual creativity • Share ideas and connect with other young artists • Complete an original artwork to take home Send Your Image Ahead of Time Students who would like to work from their own photograph should email their image to: micahgoguenart@gmail.com Micah will prepare an altered copy for use during the workshop. Every student leaves with a completed expressive self-portrait or abstract mixed-media artwork AND their own set of Marabu Sketch Markers. No perfect portrait required. Just bring your ideas, your personality, and your willingness to create!
