Monday, October 5 | 1:00–3:00 PM COCO Art Gallery Naples | Coastland Center FREE COMMUNITY EVENT Join the Art Council of Southwest Florida and COCO Art Gallery as we welcome nationally recognized artist, educator, and art therapist Micah Goguen as our Artist in Residence. This informal meet-and-greet is open to COCO Art Gallery artists and staff, Art Council member organizations, community partners, and members of the public interested in discovering creative, out-of-the-box ways to build stronger connections through the arts. Micah will share a PowerPoint presentation featuring ideas and experiences from communities around the country, exploring how artists and organizations can collaborate, engage local residents, and develop meaningful programming that responds to the needs and interests of their communities. COLLABORATION BEYOND THE EXPECTED Discover ways to: • Build integration and connection through creative partnerships • Develop out-of-the-box ideas for community engagement • Mindfully curate classes and content around local needs and concerns • Connect organizations, artists, and community members around meaningful causes • Use creativity as a bridge for conversation, collaboration, and shared experiences The afternoon will also include a brief 30-minute mindfulness art activity, offering a hands-on opportunity for staff and participants to experience creativity as a tool for connection and team building. THE BEGINNING OF THE RESIDENCY This free offering is designed to introduce Micah, familiarize him with our artists and community, share the goals of the week-long residency, and begin a conversation about the ideas and possibilities that can grow from working together.
